CALM & PUNK GALLERY is pleased to announce “NISHIAZABU METABOLISM” from 17 (Wed) to 26 (Fri) April. The exhibition features works selected by the director of CALM & PUNK GALLERY and GASBON METABOLISM from their unique collection.

After opening the multi-purpose facility GASBON METABOLISM in Hokuto, Yamanashi, in August 2022, Gas as Interface Ltd, which also operates CALM & PUNK GALLERY, runs it as a venue for more than 10 planned exhibitions a year and for art festivals and awards as well as a place for many artists to showcase their work. It is also run as a studio for local and international artists.

This exhibition features an interactive artwork created by MSHR, an art collective from Portland, USA, during their residency at GASBON METABOLISM, which incorporates light and sound into feedback circuits for the viewer to experience. The exhibition will also feature prints by Keisei Kobayashi, a leading Japanese woodblock print artist, as well as works from GASBON METABOLISM’s collections and those presented in previous exhibitions in Yamanashi.

【MSHR】
MSHR was formed as an artist collective by Beach Cooper and Blaina Murphy. MSHR’s works and performances are constructed around self-made electronic music systems and analog synthesizers that incorporate light and movement into feedback circuits. The resulting new forms function as a navigation system that indicates the direction of the movement.
